However, the ballasts in my fixtures say electronic ballast basic 12, use 40w or 34w t12 There are all kinds of. Soooo what's the difference between using a 40w t12, and a 34w t8???????

They are 2 lamp 3' and 4' luminaires. Or does it harm either the ballast or lamps if you just leave the wiring and take out 2 of the lamps?
